Prosthesis
Prosthesis dentistry is one field of dentistry that restores the tooth structure and replace missing teeth to restore function and aesthetics. Among the services included in prosthesis are inlays, onlays (blocks), veneers, crowns, bridges, dentures, partial dentures and prosthesis over implant.
Total Crown: Can be used, to protect a weakened tooth after root canal treatment, restore function of a tooth destroyed, or for aesthetic reasons. There aren’t removable and can be of different materials (PFM, resin, ceramic and metal). The final selection of the material is determined by factors such as the clinical need, the aesthetics expectation, durability of material and cost considerations.
Fixed bridge: Is a multiple unit of crowns together. It is indicated in cases where it is necessary to replace missing teeth. They are removable and can be made by the same materials as the single crown.
Denture: Removable devices made by resin with artificial teeth. Indicated for cases of total absence of teeth.
Partial Prosthesis: Removable devices are combined into a metal frame with resin. Indicated in cases of partial absence of teeth.
